I’ve created Damn the Divide with the hypothesis – and prayer – that Americans want “normal.” A big part of “normal” is living into our common ground. I get it, we won’t always find it. Indeed, those who divide are a squirrelly lot and include political power mongers, cultural crusaders, media hounds, and some really mean and angry people – forces I call the Legion of Mean. Still, when We the People exert our agency and independence – when we talk, listen, burst out of our bubbles, and meet people where they are – America is better.

My Blog covers topics such as Sports, Politics, History & Faith. I’ve run for Congress, studied Economics, Public Policy, and earned a later-in-life degree in Theological Studies. I’ve raised three children, have been married twice, made plenty of mistakes throughout 60+ years of living, and am on a continuous quest to be faithful to the ever-looming “What’s Next” questions of life. Most important, I’ll always lean toward allyship with those who are demonized, sidelined to the margins, or have gotten a raw deal - because that’s my understanding of how we are called to be, and in those alliances, America is better.
